Zigong Lantern Festival Illuminates Chinese New Year with Global Heritage

As the 2026 Chinese New Year approaches, the 32nd Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival has officially kicked off at the China Lantern World, themed "Lighting Up China, Building Dreams for the Future" . This national intangible cultural heritage event, hailed as the "Best Lanterns in the World", weaves a brilliant tapestry of tradition and innovation for the Year of the Horse.

 

 

Spanning 650 acres, the festival features 11 giant lantern installations and over 200 medium and small-sized artworks, including iconic displays like the "Chinese Knot Avenue" and "Mulan's Legend" . The integration of intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship with cutting-edge digital technology creates an immersive visual feast, where golden fish lanterns leap and mythical beast sculptures glow vividly against the night sky.

 

 

Beyond its domestic splendor, Zigong lanterns continue to shine globally, holding a 92% share of the international market . This year, they light up 85 cities across 19 countries, from the "Eight Steed Horses" in Singapore to customized cartoon installations in Japan. As a cultural bridge, Zigong lanterns deliver the warmth of Chinese New Year to the world, embodying the harmony of civilizations through light and shadow.
